3DS News from Nintendo World

With Nintendo World underway, everyone is buzzing about the 3DS. Here is what Nintendo has offered so far when it comes to the amazing little handheld.

First come some specs. More specifically, the battery life. While it will take 3.5 hours to charge fully, the amount of gaming you will be able to do will depend on a few different factors, including screen brightness and type of game. If you have the brightness down low and playing a 3DS game, Nintendo is promising 3-5 hours of battery life. With an older DS game that number goes up to 5-8 hours. Logically, if the screen is brighter the less battery you will get out of it.

Some might feel that this is fairly low, but in comparison to other handheld devices, especially with the power that the 3DS has, these number are not that surprising, and really quite good. In then end we will have to wait to get it in our hands before the 3DS is really put to the test.

Another big announcement was the launch line up in Japan. There are eight titles that will be available come February 26th, but only if you speak Japanese. They are:

Nintendogs & Cats
Winning Eleven Soccer 3DS
Super Street Fighter IV 3DS Edition
Samurai Warriors: Chronicle
Puzzle Bobble 3D
Ridge Racer 3D
Battle of the Giants: Dinosaurs 3D
Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle

Thanks to Kotaku for the image

Now remember that these are the Japanese launch titles and will not necessarily reflect the US launch. And that is probably a good thing.

I don't have anything against these titles, but they really do reflect the difference between cultures. Even with Super Street Fighter IV 3D and Professor Layton, there really isn’t anything on this list that begs one to have a 3DS at launch. Winning Eleven Soccer 3Ds could be good, Nintendogs & Cats will be great for it’s niche, and Ridge Racer will give gamers that racing fix, but honestly, its a tad disappointing. Hopefully we will see these titles and more whenever the next big handheld come stateside.

Finally, Nintendo was showing off there new box art for both the system and cases. Nothing really surprising here. The 3DS box looks like what you would expect and the game cases really don’t seem that different. But hey, it’s one more reason to ogle the sexy machine.
Again, thanks must be given to Kotaku

So with the Japanese launch just over a month away and the fact that we are guaranteed to see the 3DS in America before 2011 is out, are you excited to get your hands on the 3D wonder machine? I know I am.
